Otis is seriously pissing me off this season. Back in season 1 he was, for the most part, "compellingly odd" as Maeve once said. This season, however, he's been doing nothing but antagonizing everyone around him from his mother to Jakob to Ola to Maeve and it's annoying as hell. The speech he made in this episode was just a bunch of self-righteous bullshit. I've been shipping him with Maeve from the start, but tbh now I think Maeve deserves better than this entitled little shit.

loading replies

@aniela-krajewska I get where you’re coming from and I agree he was being hugely annoying this episode (then again most people are when they get shitfaced in an emotional state). However, it’s also Otis who has been antagonised all through this season. He just boiled over this episode. I think he also had a right to express his feelings at the dinner table, when no one else dared. Hey not even his mother could honestly talk about hers. I actually agreed with Otis there.
You’re also forgetting how he’s always trying to help everyone even when he doesn’t really want to. He always puts others first. And then this mess comes out of it, where he feels like he’s just the one getting trampled on. I totally can’t be mad at that.

As long as Otis catches himself again, it‘a just an outbreak.

Enola Holmes

It was so bad. I dont know why it had such good reviews. There was no sherlock element in the whole movie. Waste of time really.

loading replies

@jindal-shreyansh I see. Riddles and quick wit have never been "sherlock-elements"

It's just me or Otis wasn't this stupid last season? I f*cking hate him right now. Everything about him is wrong

loading replies

@wawowiwa everything? Like trying to help everyone around him even when he doesn’t actually want to? Like trying to split himself up between everyone he cares about and getting completely run over by them instead? He’s been trying to do right by Ola as well as Maeve and it landed him in a huge mess where it seems they both hate him. What about that is to hate? He was annoying drunk, sure, like a lot of people are. I’m a bit disappointed his best friend didn’t save him from that train wreck to be honest. Otis had to explode at some point - it happening at a party is kind of just typical.

Vikings: 6x08 Valhalla Can Wait

For a show that's running on the HISTORY channel Vikings surely cares very little about actual history.

loading replies

@onlime at least it doesn’t claim to be 100% accurate at any time. But tell me, why does fiction claiming to be accurate reality run on channels such as Fox News?

I'm on Marty's side- his wife's actions feel risky.

loading replies

@dewdropvelvet And that's why he has to act spiteful and vengeful? Come on. He can't even be civil with her. That her actions are "risky" is just a forefront for him to justify his actions that aren't otherwise justifiable.

@jasondaigo what a daft comment. Her blood was spilled during training injuries onto the ground. Flowers don't spring spontaneously from her menstruation on cloth...

I'm an atheist, but I think my heavy duty christian parents would say that that is blasphemy.

Also, hell yeah woman! I love when there is someone pointing out who ACTUALLY saved a life. If your kid dies its the doctors fault, if it lives god gets thanks for sending the atheist doctor to save it. yuck

Did I miss the fake guard ejecting shells? Kind of weird that the leader found one considering that the fake guard is using a revolver (where the shells don't get ejected to the side...)

loading replies

@player8472 I didn't notice him picking up a shell, but he DID dig out the actual bullet from the brain. And I'm not Christian either, but regardless, that "priest" is a fanatic rather than a believer, anything out of his mouth is... yikes.

  • I loved that they addressed the issues of Paul standing outside the vehicle in the forest and him and Anderson not wearing any bullet proof vests. It kind of bugged me in the season finale how convenient this was, but it is good to see that it was being purposely done for the review plot that followed
  • I believe Paul and don't think he is faking it. However, what is the law concerning convicting someone with a memory loss? I mean he still committed the act but does it present a loophole the defense can use?
  • Since he is a murder suspect, it is weird that he is not handcuffed to the bed and there is no officer directly in front of his door
loading replies

@tago1987 There's quite a number of oversights on the side of the hospital in my opinion. Good point with the handcuffs. Yet just the fact alone that they're leaving a victim and a perpetrator so close to each other, when she's supposed to be in a safe place, yet they endanger at the very least her mental health by having him this close to her. Huge oversight.
Thirdly, not a fan how they'd assign him a nurse that fits his victims' profile. Stella sure had a bit of a "what?" moment, but it wasn't further addressed by anyone. Additionally, the way he grabbed her must have scared Kiera, yet she's pretending it's all fine. I'm not liking any of this hospital-setup.

Locke & Key: 1x06 The Black Door

One thing is having no fear another one is being completely reckless, dumb, selfish, and annoying. Like if you have no fear why not go alone into the cave... nonsense drama.

loading replies

@silera yes thank you. Irresponsibility, obsession with power and the inability to think or act rationally have little to nothing to do with fear. Addiction to the power-rush ... maybe a little. I’m so annoyed at Kinsey. Or the writing.

loading replies
Locke & Key: 1x05 Family Tree

I agree that some characters are making dumb decisions, but they are in line with their characters. Kinsey simply has no fear. It's totally logic, that she does, what she wants or likes. Because she doesn't just have no fear for herself, but she also has no fear for others.
Gabe on the other hand simply tries to get Kinseys attention, that's why he supported her actions.
So yes, there are dumb decisions made, but I think they fit the characters at the moment. :)
I like it, when shows try to invert the characters we like, when it makes sense. And here it does, I think. :)

loading replies

@hallorian making rational decisions doesn’t have to do anything with fear. In her situation it was about acting like a proper human being. It’s not “in character”. She is getting addicted to the power and became irrationally absorbed by the rush of controlling someone. Decency nor rationality have got anything to do with fear. She’s just an asshole. Or psychopath if you will - lacking all empathy in the moment.

The Boys: 1x07 The Self-Preservation Society

One of my biggest television pet peeves is when a character can explain a situation a trillion times better than they actually do - and they don’t. When they can very easily defend their actions, successfully and succinctly - and they don’t.

That was Hughie here. Frustrating to no end. Starlight doesn’t deserve you.

Rant over.

@tvwatcha3 I concur. Then again I haven’t met many men to be good with words when put on the spot and say it “just the way that makes sense”.

@darksilver just like any other rape scene.

The Boys: 1x01 The Name of the Game

Really graphic, really brutal and shocking. This is a great pilot episode that's got me hooked and intrigued. However, one minor nitpick is the science behind the invisible guy. He claims he can turn invisible because his skin can reflect light. If that were true then when he's invisible we'd still see his hair, his eyeballs when his eyelids aren't closed and probably even his teeth when he talks. Those wouldn't be reflecting light. Just saying. But besides that it was awesome.

loading replies

@sirkappy he /the writers were probably just sloppy in that it’s not just his skin but his entire surface, no matter what material. It all turns into that carbon meta material. He has to be naked because it doesn’t extend to anything his body touches, but his body itself gets cloaked all over.
Because if it didn’t, yeah, you’d see all his hair and uh. Yeah. We did see that without the cloak. He’d be rather visible :joy:
So I suppose that if you get limited time to explain your weirdness you might just say “my skin does x” rather than “the entirety of my body’s surface turns to x” to make it easier for both yourself, as you’re avoiding having to get into details, as well as those in the populace who are a little slow on the uptake.

And Just Like That…: 2x10 The Last Supper: Appetizer (1)

Seems a bit “convenient” that the writers choose to have Lisa be absolutely heart broken about being pregnant, not wanting to get an abortion and then her body just doing it on its own.
Oh wait, those aren’t even legal anymore in the US right?

Please, what are they doing to the characters
I can forgive a chatty Geralt, blame it on the daddy-role, but hummm… at this point it seems like nobody is really true to their character anymore.

The Alienist: 2x03 Labyrinth

That hospital is giving me the chills. Not sure the term is deserved for that place.
Kreizler's speach was really heartfelt and since we know the characters for quite some time now the scene works really well. Including all the things not said. Somehow I doubt that John will marry Violet.
I really have to give credit to Brühl for his performance througout the show. This is by far the best I've seen of him.

@finfan Hospitals back in the time more often felt like a place of horror and death, than one of healing, I would wager. Just slightly more hopeful than the psychiatric wards. Shudder.

Tears. I have cried SO much watching this show and the ending of this episode completely broke me. I'm glad Emma showed up, I'm so so glad. She doesn't even know that she literally saved his life. I think it's so good that there is going to be another season. It's very important to tell stories like this. To see how close to death a person can get but how little things and certain people can get you back.
